Fiddling with the dials
Although the numbers vary by country, it is estimated that the global percentage of atheists and agnostics is around 7%. A recent 2023 Pew Poll noted that 81% of Americans responded positively to the statement, “there is something spiritual beyond the natural world, even if we cannot see it.” Rather than suggesting that people have a problem with God’s hiddenness, the data reveals that the more significant issue is why He, She, or It is shrouded in mystery.
