The psychological toll of witnessing animal cruelty online

I’m A Celebrity has recently raised a few eyebrows by including dodgy politicians in its line ups. But the Ant and Dec fronted jungle-based hijinks also came under fire late last year from conservationist Chris Packham who called for “no more abuse of animals for entertainment”. 

Social media platforms were awash with views on the show’s bush tucker trials. Animal rights campaigning bled into the digital discourse, and disturbing imagery appeared in many social media feeds that had previously not been exposed to it.
